What a busy place the SHPS Library is, we can't believe it is already Term 2! All of our Students enjoyed their time in the Library during Term 1, especially with two of our visiting Authors, Wai Chim and Oliver Phommavanh. Stage 2 and 3 students were thrilled to spend time listening to and learning from these fantastic children's authors during our Writer's in Residence Program we are lucky enough to have at SHPS. All students in Stage 2 and 3 participated in writing workshops with their classroom teacher and guest author, focusing on various writing techniques and unique author tips and tricks. Here are some photographs of the students and our special guests from Term 1, 2017. If you are yet to complete the challenge, there is still time for you as you must complete your online Students Reading Record by the 21st of August, 2015. K-2 students need to read a total of 30 books to complete the Premier’s Reading Challenge. Each K-2 student record already includes the titles read to children during library lessons this year. Students in Years 3 – 6 need to read 20 books altogether. Of these, 15 must be on the relevant NSW PRC booklist and five can be personal choice books of a similar standard. Please remember, only two titles from any one series may be read as part of the PRC. Please email our school PRC coordinator, [email protected] to advise once your child’s PRC entry has been completed. This will ensure that they have a valid entry in the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge 2015. Premier's Reading Challenge Website - https://online.det.nsw.edu.au/prc/home.html This term, K-2 students will take part in workshops with Gus Gordon, visiting author and illustrator. Gus Gordon will work with Year 2 students in Week 3 and with children from Kindergarten and Year 1 in Week 4. |
